First, I installed and activated the search plugin and it does not work (with default Joomla search mod or the Rok search mod from my template). Perhaps I did something wrong.

Searching is possibly the most important feature of a forum (in my opinion).  Without a good search function, users are 10X more likely to post a question or comment about something that already exists. The search function on this forum, for example, is clunky at best (unless I'm missing something). Perhaps I'm spoiled by phpBB3, but I think my point is valid nonetheless.

This plugin integrates perfectly with CB (I love the way users can update their profile right from the forum) and it fits nicely within Joomla's architecture. Am I missing something with repsect to the search features of this forum?

I fixed the problem by clearing my cache. Mea culpa Cry

I'd still like to know if the developers are planning a native ccboard search function (separate from joomla).

I have installed your ccBoard, configured it and have everything working perfectly. Nice Component, by the way. I then installed the Search Plugin and enabled it in the plug in manager. However, there is no search text field when I navigate to my forum page. Am I missing something?

I couldn't agree more, the I published the search now as a module, but it doesn't look and feel if the search option belongs native to the forum.

Hi,

ccBoard does not have its own search box or independant search functionality. Whenever the search plugin is installed, it is merely extending the joomla search to include ccBoard results also. I hope this is the better  way, rather than reinventing wheel.

If anybody has got problems with search, first make sure that, your joomla search box is visible and working perfectly. Once this is ok, download and install ccBoard plugin and it would work without any problems.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Thomas
